Okuma Expands Bass Fishing Presence with the Addition of Adam Deakin

Okuma continues to expand its footprint in the bass fishing market with the addition of western tournament angler, podcast host, and content creator Adam Deakin to its growing roster of anglers and ambassadors.

Deakin, who is also part of the Serious Angler Podcast Network, has become a recognized voice within western bass fishing through a combination of tournament competition, media work, and educational content. Known for spotlighting western fisheries and the anglers who fish them, Deakin brings both on-the-water credibility and storytelling experience to the Okuma team.

Adam Deakin joins Okuma

His fishing roots trace back to childhood days spent catching bluegill with his father and grandfather at local ponds, eventually evolving into a competitive bass fishing career. Along the way, Deakin served as President of the Colorado State University Bass Fishing Team before advancing into national-level competition, including appearances in the Toyota Series and Bassmaster Opens.

Deakin has continued to build momentum on the tournament trail with Top 10 finishes at both the BAM Super 60 and Pro-Am levels. One of his standout performances came at the BAM Don Pedro Pro-Am, where he led Day One with 22.12 pounds, anchored by a personal-best 10.02-pound bass that earned recognition from Bass Angler Magazine.

According to Okuma Director of Marketing Michelle Gandola, Deakin represents the type of angler the company sees as instrumental to the future of bass fishing.

“Adam represents the next generation of anglers who are not only competing at a high level but also helping grow the sport through storytelling and authentic content,” said Gandola. “His passion for western fisheries and technical bass fishing aligns perfectly with our vision for the future.”

As part of the partnership, Deakin will be fishing and creating content around Okuma’s expanding lineup of bass-focused products, including the company’s X-Series rods and reels. He pointed to the lightweight construction, sensitivity, and tournament-ready performance of the products as key factors behind the partnership.

For Deakin, the opportunity extends beyond tournament competition.

“What excites me most is aligning with a brand that is serious about performance, innovation, and growing its presence in the bass fishing space,” Deakin said. “I’m excited to put this gear to work in real tournament situations and showcase how it performs across western fisheries and competitive bass fishing.”

Moving forward, Deakin’s role with Okuma will include tournament coverage, educational videos, rig breakdowns, and behind-the-scenes content focused on evolving bass fishing techniques such as finesse applications and forward-facing sonar strategies.

“This partnership allows me to create more intentional and valuable content while representing a company I’m proud to be associated with,” Deakin added. “It gives me the ability to connect anglers with the right tools and show how they perform in real competitive environments.”

As Okuma continues investing in the bass category, partnerships with anglers like Deakin highlight the company’s focus on combining innovation, competition, and authentic storytelling to connect with today’s anglers.
