The 2026 CCA California STAR Tournament Returns with Bigger Prizes and Life-Changing Opportunities
The excitement is already building for the 2026 CCA California STAR Tournament, hosted by the Coastal Conservation Association of California. Each year the STAR Tournament brings together anglers from across the state for an exciting season of fishing, conservation, and incredible prize opportunities, and 2026 is shaping up to be one of the biggest yet.
This years tournament runs from May 23rd to September 7th.
Cost: $40.00 for CCA Members or $80 for Non-CCA Members

A Grand Prize Worth Chasing
The headline prize for this year’s tournament is a brand-new MAKO 17 Center Console, a dream setup for anglers looking to explore coastal waters in style. Whether you’re chasing halibut, bass, or other inshore favorites, this versatile center console boat represents the ultimate reward for participants who land the right fish during the tournament.

The STAR Tournament is known for delivering serious prizes across multiple divisions, and 2026 will be no exception. In addition to the grand prize boat package, anglers will have opportunities to win a variety of premium gear and fishing-related prizes throughout the event.
New Species for 2026
For the 2026 season, CCA STAR has added two new species to the mix. This year they have added Surf Perch and Spotted Bay Bass as standalone species.
In previous seasons, Spotted Bay Bass was included in the Saltwater Bass category with a minimum length of 18″. Pretty tough for a spotty. For 2026, Spotted Bay Bass will be their own species and have a minimum length of 15″, which is quite doable to get entries.
And don’t forget those surf perch. For all of you surf anglers, CCA heard you and has added the surf perch category. The minimum length for surf perch is 9″ and includes all species of surf perch. Too many to list.
The addition of these two categories will really open up options for all of you anglers out there.
Investing in the Next Generation of Anglers
While the prizes on the leaderboard are impressive, one of the most meaningful parts of the STAR Tournament is its commitment to youth.
In 2026, three $5,000 Youth Scholarships will be awarded to deserving young anglers. These scholarships help support education while encouraging the next generation to stay connected to fishing, conservation, and responsible stewardship of California’s marine resources.
This year’s Youth Scholarships are brought to you by Batson Enterprises, Salty Crew and BD Outdoors. Very generous of these three great companies to jump in and get involved.

Programs like this highlight the deeper mission of CCA California, ensuring that today’s anglers help shape a better future for our fisheries and coastal environments.
Early Bird Incentive from AFTCO

Anglers who register early will also receive a special bonus.
Thanks to support from AFTCO, participants who sign up before the tournament officially begins will receive a $25 AFTCO gift card as part of the Early Bird registration promotion. It’s a great way to gear up before the season kicks off and an extra incentive to get signed up early.
A Tournament for Every Angler
One of the reasons the STAR Tournament continues to grow is its accessibility. Anglers of all experience levels can participate, and the event encourages time on the water with family and friends while supporting conservation efforts that benefit the entire fishing community.
From seasoned competitors to weekend anglers hoping to hook the fish of a lifetime, the tournament creates an atmosphere of excitement and opportunity throughout the season.
