Budget Friendly Fishing Sunglasses | Seekway Polarized Sunglasses

I like to do product reviews for a full spectrum of fishing products. From high end to low end and everything in between. I always find that a great reviewer goes into a review with an open mind regardless of the products price point, like the new Seekway Polarized Sunglasses.

A couple weeks back I did a full product review and look at a high end pair of fishing sunglasses. This week, I will hit the other end with a pair of Seekway Polarized Sunglasses that will fit into everyone’s budget.

Sunglasses are obviously made all over the world. This particular pair of glasses were made in China by a company called Seekway. They also make Water Shoes and several other products. This company was nice enough to send me a pair to do a run down on, and that is exactly what I am going to do.

Specs on the Specs

First Look at the Seekway Polarized Sunglasses

As with all of the products I review, I like to begin with the packaging. In this case, the Seekway Polarized Sunglasses came in a nice rigid box.

Sunglass Box

Simple and clean box design with a foil embossed logo on the front was pretty nice. Within that box you will find a nice carrying case and the glasses.

Nice Case

The carrying case itself is really nice. Seems to be quite rigid and features what feels like a nice sturdy zipper.

Carrying Case

A nice feature on the carrying case is the sturdy clip so that you can hook it to your belt, tackle box or backpack.

Lets Open them Up!

Now we are getting somewhere! The next step is to open up the carrying case and actually take a look at the glasses.

Ok, well maybe not so fast. Once I opened the case I saw that the glasses themselves were wrapped/packed in a nice sturdy plastic bag. But also in there was another bag containing a few goods.

Open Carrying Case

Once you open the smaller plastic bag you find a variety of items inside. In that bag there was an owners manual, cleaning cloth and a small “Polarized Tester” that you can use to actually test the polarization of your glasses. Nice little touch.

Now can we look at the glasses?

Ok yes. We can now look at the glasses.

When I pulled the glasses out of they bag, they felt surprisingly sturdier than I thought they would have. One think I noticed right away was how light they were. They came in at 28 grams in weight which is pretty nice. Seekway touts that the frames are TR90 (not sure what that is), and are flexible, durable and resistant to damage.

First Look at the Glasses

The glasses I was sent are the Semi-Matte Black and Translucent with Ice-Blue Lenses. It is a little harder than I thought to capture the two-tone frames, but you can get a sense of it from the image above and below. It is just the very bottom of the frame that feature the translucent portion with the rest of the frame being the semi-matte black color.

I tried to get a couple of different angles to get a good feel for the Ice-Blue lenses. In the image below you get a good feel for the blue mirrored finish that these glasses offer.

The Shape

The overall shape of these glasses is a pretty basic formula. Nothing to exotic or outlandish, but a good basic clean overall look for a pair of fishing sunglasses.

Here is a slanted image looking down at the glasses from an upper angle.

And here is a side profile shot of the Seekway Polarized Sunglasses.

Side Profile

As you can see from the image above, the Seekway logo is prominent, but not blasting you on the side of the frame.

At this point, we’ll work our way from the behind the ear comfort pads all around through the inside of the frames.

The Ear Pads on these glasses are pretty comfortable. I haven’t noticed any pinching or binding. They are said to be made of a TPE material which in essence, is a rubber material. I know TPE is used in some baits as well as grips on some rods. As you can see below it is a rigged padding to keep grip so that hopefully the glasses don’t go flying off of your head while out on the water.

Comfortable TPE Ear Pads

Working our way up toward the lenses, you will see that the temple area widens out a bit. This is nice as it does block a bit of sunlight that would enter from the sides. At this point you will also get your first glance at the folding hinges. Some glasses have a prominent external folding hinges that stick out, but these Seekway Polarized Sunglasses seem to have an internal metal hinge that allows these to not only fold, but hold tightly to your face. Time will tell how much grip they will retain.

Temple Area and Connector

We’ll come back to the lenses in a moment, but first we’ll take a look at the nose padding. This is always a sore spot, so to speak. I find that most sunglass manufacturers lack a little when it comes to the nose pad section. These Seekway sunglasses are said to also feature the TPE material on the nose pad.

TPE Nose Pads

Not sure if you can tell in the image above, but the nose pads are molded right into the sunglass. They don’t appear to be simply glued on, which I have encountered in several other pairs. I don’t have a lot of time in these at this point, but the nose pad does seem fairly sturdy.

One thing to note is that the bridge gap is pretty large. If you have a smaller or flatter nose, this might be an issue and the glasses could sit pretty low. On my face, they do come down a bit and sit more toward my cheeks which can cause some fogging issues when you get into the heat of battle when fishing…and sweating.

The Lenses

I never really found out what the Seekway Polarized Sunglass lenses were made of. Being as light as they are, I’m guessing that they are a plastic material. The lenses are very thin coming in at less than 1.1mm.

These lenses are said to feature a polarized lens coating.

Here is a quote from their website.

1.1MM ultra-thin TAC polarized lenses effectively absorb glare, provide a soft and clear vision, without distortion and no dizziness. In addition, these polarized sunglasses mirror coating can effectively reduce light reflection and scattered light, protect against harmful UVA/UVB/UVC ultraviolet rays, truly protect your eyes.

The glasses themselves do have a nice clear feel to them. Honestly, I can’t really see much of a color tint to the glasses. Not totally amber, but more of a yellow maybe?

Overall Thoughts on the Seekway Polarized Sunglasses

Overall, this is a nice pair of sunglasses. I really didn’t mention the price or try to compare them to any high end fishing glasses. Heck, these come in at a retail price of right around $25. That’s right…$25.

Time will tell how they hold up, and when I get into some heavy fishing situations and different light conditions. They feel sturdy and seem to be well built. And speaking of sturdy, per their Amazon page, they offer a lifetime guarantee on the sunglasses. That in itself is pretty incredible.

-Our polarized sunglasses are guaranteed for life…
